History:
Katherine Pierce was born on June 5, 1473 to a noble and wealthy Bulgarian family. Growing up, she was a sweet girl who loved her family. When she was about 16 or 17, she got pregnant out of wedlock with an unknown male and gave birth to a baby girl. Although, just as soon as she gave birth to her, her Father took her away, not even allowing her to look at her baby girl. This left Katherine devastated and they then sent her away, banishing her to England. While living there, she met Trevor who introduced her to Lord Elijah and Lord Klaus. She was instantly attracted to Klaus. That is, until she found out what he was and what his plans were for her and once she did, she ran until she came across Rose, with the help of Trevor. They had both fought on whether they should help her or not so Katherine, with Rose's blood in her system, hung herself, turning into a Vampire purposely. After she was a Vampire, she went back to Bulgaria to find her family, specifically her daughter, only to find that everyone in the village had been murdered and assumed that her daughter was dead with them.
After witnessing what Klaus had done to her village, Katherine changed her name from Katerina Petrova to Katherine Pierce and went on the run, knowing how much Klaus wanted her dead. She spent many years running, all the while looking out for any plans she could use to stop him.
In 1864, Katherine had come across Mystic Falls, VA, where she met Stefan and Damon Salvatore. During this point in time, she had also been accompanied with Emily Bennett, a witch she was indebted to for saving her life and forged Katherine a special piece of jewelry with a lapis lazuli stone, which allowed her to walk in the sun without being burned and helped her keep her vampire identity a secret. During her stay with the Salvatore's, she had compelled both brother's, seducing them as she forced them her blood each time. Her plan was to turn them both and would not leave until she did so which caused problems with her and Emily as the town started getting suspicious and it had even gotten to the point where they had hunted down all Vampires, locking them in the church as it burned down. The Salvatores had thought she was in that church but, in fact, she had escaped with the help of George. Before leaving, she had gone to a dead, or rather transitioning, Stefan and kissed him on the lips, promising they'd be together again one day and Emily had told Damon that Katherine was trapped in a tomb below the church although she was really back in hiding to run away from Klaus.
After being in hiding for so long, Katherine had arrived back in Mystic Falls once again while Damon was trying to open the tomb where the Vampires were to free her. She didn't want it opened so as to keep Klaus from thinking she was still alive. She had arrived in town at first portrayed as Elena as Damon walked her up Elena's porch. Her plan was to retrieve Johnathan Gilbert's Device to stop Damon and as Johnathan was talking to her, she cut off his fingers to get rid of his Gilbert Ring then stabs him until Elena walks in and Katherine takes off, not ready for her presence to be known yet.
At the Mayor's wake, at the Lockwood Mansion, Katherine makes her appearance, going to see Bonnie in which Bonnie tries to give her an aneurysm but considering how old Katherine is, she is able to resist the spell. Later on, her and Stefan go for a walk, in which case, she tells Stefan that she came back for him though he claims to not love her anymore and she stabs him. Later on, she also confesses to Damon she never loved him and it was always Stefan. Later, with Caroline lying in a hospital bed, Katherine approaches her bedside, staring down at her only for her to wake up and tells her to tell the Salvatores 'Game on' and smothers her with a pillow, turning Caroline into a vampire.
Later, after some time messing with the Salvatore's, Stefan locks Katherine up in the cellar, tormenting the truth to her return and she reveals that, in exchange for her return, she gave George Lockwood the moonstone and is looking to get it back. She explains to him the truth about everything that happened in 1864 and that she never compelled Stefan to love her and it was all real.After she escapes the interrogation, she finally meets her doppelgänger, Elena, face to face.
After spending much time trying to get the Moonstone back from the Lockwoods by attempting to trick them, setting off both Tyler and Mason's Werewolf curse, she, instead enlists the help of Lucy Bennett to get the Moonstone.Later, at a party, while she is dancing with Stefan, she tries to get the moonstone in a more diplomatic way and when that doesn't work, she kills Aimee in the middle of the dance floor. Eventually, Caroline lures Katherine up to a room where Bonnie has put up a spell where Vampire's can not leave, causing her to be stuck with both Stefan and Damon and she tries to charm them but they end up attacking her instead. Unfortunately, they couldn't because Lucy had a spell put up where whatever happened to Katherine, happened to Elena, keeping them from harming her. Lucy soon turns the tables and incapacitates Katherine and she awakes in the tomb and as the Salvatore's leave, she shouts that Elena is in danger. Later, Elena comes to ask about the Originals,bringing with her some blood for her and when Stefan comes looking for Elena, Katherine warns her that Klaus will kill everyone she loves.
After spending some time in the tomb,now with Stefan there as well, Elijah, one of the Originals shows up, letting Stefan out though compels Katherine to remain in the tomb. She later pleads Stefan not to kill Elijah or she would remain there forever but in fact turns out being a trick when they stake Elijah, releasing Katherine from the compulsion. Eventually, Katherine is once again knocked unconscious but, this time, in Alaric's apartment,who is currently being possessed by Klaus temporarily and keeps Katherine there for the time being and Katherine pretends to be under his compulsion when really she is on vervain and eventually escapes with the cure for a werewolf bite for Damon.
Katherine appears again with a possible way to end Klaus for good which happens to be Klaus, his Step Father, who has spent centuries trying to kill him. So, she tries to wake him from his slumber, trying to feed him a rat though, instead, feeds from her since he only feeds from Vampire's and makes his way to Klaus. Later, helping out the Salvatore's, she pretends to be Elena, who Mikael compels, threatening to kill her if they don't give up Klaus, since if he dies, they all die. When he does, in fact stab Katherine, she turns on him and throws wolfsbane bombs at the hybrids and flees.
Since then, Katherine has been on the run, once again until she discovers there is a cure for vampirism, not to use on herself of course but rather to use on Klaus though she is not able to keep it on her as the Salvatore's end up getting it, giving it to Elena. Of course, Elena chooses not to use it on herself, as surprising as it is, and decides to use it on Katherine instead. Of course, Katherine didn't go down without a fight but Elena did still manage to shove the cure down her throat, making her human.
As she is human, and 500 years old, she starts to die of old age though while on her death bed, she uses a traveler spell to put herself in Elena's body, possessing her. Eventually though, everyone finds out and kills Katherine. With her dead, Katherine lingers and tries to pass through Bonnie, to Purgatory to be with her daughter though something goes wrong and, instead, she is sent to hell. There, she spends years, centuries it seems, of torture until she becomes a demon and has finally made her way out. Of course, she prefers to use her old body and seeks the help of an old witch, who helps her do just that so now, her plan is to go to a town called Storybrooke where rumors go around that something big is going on and she want's to see what that is.
